Our data and methods

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Every number on Gable & Post comes from a row in a dataset we publish here, with its source and the date we collected it. If a figure on the site doesn't trace back to this page, that's a mistake, and we'd like to hear about it at hello@gableandpost.com.

Kit price dataset

How we collect kit prices

  1. We only record a price a supplier publishes on its own website. We don't use quotes sent to us privately, and we don't estimate.
  2. For each kit we record the supplier, the product name, its size, the frame type, what the supplier says is included, the price, whether it's a fixed or "starting at" price, the page address, and the date we saw it.
  3. We sort each kit by what it includes, using the supplier's own description:
    • Frame package only
    • Shell (frame, roof and walls)
    • Shell with doors and/or windows
    • Shell, delivered and installed
  4. Price per square foot is the price divided by the enclosed floor area the supplier lists. Porches and lean-tos are not counted unless the supplier includes them in the area.
  5. Where a supplier doesn't name the frame type, we show "Not stated", or the supplier's standard construction where the supplier only sells one kind.
  6. We recheck every listed price at least once a month and update the date when we do.

What these numbers are not

They are not quotes. Freight, sales tax, options, erection and engineering are usually extra, and suppliers change prices often. Use them to compare and to budget, then ask the supplier for a quote.
